ABOUT THIS PRESENTATION

Thinking that the title would be: Memory and Belonging: Daystar shares memories of her parents and grandparents living on the Blackfeet Reservation in Montana, and of earlier anecdotes about her French/Cree great-grandmother Susan Bigknife. Daystar is fortunate to have family stories as well as articles that were used by those ancestors - a deer hoof bag which was her grandmother's sewing basket, her pipe, her moccasins, various hide preparation tools and a Cree Bible. Daystar will show these articles and speak about the importance of family, tribal and personal storytelling.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

I personally feel that all of us, Indian and non-Indian alike, could benefit, especially now, from Native American philosophy and life experience. I intend to continue not only as a performer, teacher, and choreographer, but also as a catalyst for cross-cultural understanding." Rosalie M. Jones

ABOUT THIS CLASS
This hour long class invites people of all ages and abilities to build upon embodied knowledge of the previous classes, this time with a nonstop rhythmic flow based on the weight shift of walking. We start by grounding ourselves by articulating the feet, then try various rhythmic foot patterns, directions, coordinations and level changes. We counterbalance movements of the lower body with the upper body, left with right, forward and backward, past and future, bringing movement to counter isolation and celebrate our collectivity! Playlist includes tracks by Navajo DJ Randy B, Robert Mirabal.

SLIDING SCALE DONATION: $0-$100
