Join us on July 17th in Santa Fe, NM at MOVE Studios, as we welcome Jade Whaanga Barrios, offering “Manaaki Movement” a Māori Dance Workshop.
Manaaki is to care for, protect and show generosity towards others. This workshop invites us to begin Manaaki from within. Exploring movements that reflect Manaaki (care) towards ourselves, to replenish and nourish our wellbeing. Embodying this care into our communities and the natural world. Through movement exploration and play, we are invited to deepen our connection to self, others & our environment.

This workshop intricately weaves contemporary cultural arts practices designed to invite participants to delve deeply into their relationship with the environment, focusing specifically on the elements, both within our bodies and in the surrounding natural world.

This workshop explores the creative body within space, and the shapes and tensions in the space, which also include the relation to other bodies around. The design of the course goes from simple ideas to complex concepts of movement. The beginning focuses on individual developments moving towards group exercises. This course aims to build a progressive structure.
