Seed | In Protection of Mother Earth

Dancing Earth’s Indigenous cultural artists and filmmaker Marion Claire Wasserman of Elemental Designs created this film in collaboration with land, sky, water, and ancestral knowledge, including Havasupai medicine person Uqualla. We take responsibility as modern people to create performance as contemporary ritual for the issues of our times, rooting in connection with eco-sphere to imagine and embody a more balanced future. Seed was created as a commission for the exhibition “The Ecozoic Era: Plant|Seed|Soil” for the New Mexico State Capitol.

About the Company

Dancing Earth Indigenous Contemporary Dance Creations (DEC) represents an Indigenous contemporary dance theater ensemble that renews and revitalizes culture, community, and cosmology. Founded by Rulan Tangen, DEC gives hope and opportunity to Native talent who fall outside the dialogue of mainstream performance by confronting a lack of access as an organic constellation of largely self-taught Indigenous dancers, composers, costume and set designers, filmmakers, and spoken word artists.
