All of you who love the experience of nature at National Parks, must be feeling the isolation pretty hard, so we invite you to stay safe at home while experiencing the power of the elements through our movements! “In a moment of apocalypse, young Indigenous people find glimmers of resilience, hope, and courage to dream in a better future for the earth and all living beings.”

Friends, we were so proud of the amazing spring time events we had planned around the country and the globe. Like all of us, our work is being canceled. For us, this is not only loss of how we support ourselves financially but also it is the purpose of our gifts: to engage, share, inspire.
We are awaiting word on whether BAY AREA DANCE WEEK events for April will continue, and will post updates here and on social media.
Stay healthy!

Dancing the Arc of a Story from Origins to Re-Creation
Every day we have the opportunity to witness the depth and beauty of the world unfolding all around us, of the promise of creation and the renewal of spirit. Growing up on the farm allowed me to perceive it closely, to recognize growth and birth; to understand that even in death, there is life. As an adult, I am closest to it in the work of creativity.
Review by KK Báez, Co-Founder of MoveWest
In the 1980’s PBS “Dancing” series, dance was introduced through three lenses - that of ritual dance, theatrical dance and social dance. As it turns out dance is not so clearly pigeon holed. Rulan Tangen’s work. ” …SEEDS: REGENERATION…” performed by her company Dancing Earth, has its roots in both modern dance, Graham-like in moments, and dance as ritual rooted in indigenous traditions.
