Kalani Queypo's independent film ANCESTOR EYES is begin to win numerous awards on the festival circuit! This month, the film showed at the Talking Stick Film Festival in Santa Fe. Through the summer, it recieved five awards including Best Short Film, Directorial Discovery, and a Best Actress nomination for Rulan at the Action on Film Festival in Los Angeles! More details , including trailer, can be accessed on you tube, as well as www.myspace.com/ancestoreyesshortOn June 13th, Rulan appeared in Deirdre Morris' butoh based choreography entitled ASHES, at the North Fourth Arts Center in Albuquerque. Rulan taught guest classes for Moving People's Summer Dance Intensive in Santa Fe, re-connecting with colleague Jock Soto, former principal dancer of New York City Ballet who was also guest teaching. Last summer at the the Center for Contemporry Arts' Native Cinema Showcase she had danced at the premiere of his bio-documentary film made by Gwendoyn Cates, entitled "Water Flowing Together". The Santa Fe Dance Festival also presents a performance of the amazing Bill T Jones Dance Company.
