Meet Tara Bucknor

“Tara is excited to explore the theme of mixed-ism and looking forward to exploring the multitudes that live inside her. As the daughter of two immigrant parents from Jamaica (a country with a long beautiful history of culture sharing), she hopes through this time of research to find connection to that which has been lost.”

About Tara (she/her)

Tara is a Bay Area-based choreographer, writer, and dancer. Originally from Jupiter Florida, she attended BAK Middle School of the Arts, Dreyfoos School of the Arts, and Precision Dance Conservatory before attending and graduating with a BFA in Dance from the University of Florida. After graduating with her BFA in Dance from UF in 2020 she went on to complete the two-year Alonzo King Lines Ballet Training Program. Tara started choreographing at her home studio in high school and continued making work through her college and post-grad career at UF and Lines. Tara has had her work shown in several festivals including Bates Dance Festival, American Dance Festival, and Emerging Choreographers Festival. Most recently she was accepted into ODC’s 73rd Pilot Program and created work as well as a self-produced show alongside her six-person cohort. She is excited to work with Dancing Earth.

Community Support

Dancing Earth’s Eco Elegies project is not possible without the support of our community. Help us develop this new work, support the artists we work with, and continue to activate our communities in the spirit of our mission, to create contemporary dance and related arts through global-Indigenous and intercultural relationships centered in ecological and cultural diversity for creativity, health, and wellness.
